Your snippets stay on your device.

Last updated: September 4, 2026 · Terms

This notice explains what the Typlet desktop app and this website do with information. Typlet works without a Typlet account, and version 1.0 has no telemetry, analytics, advertising SDK, or remote logging. Typlet does check for new versions; the section on update checks below says exactly what that request contains.

Visiting this website

This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. Its hosting provider may process ordinary connection information such as IP address, request time, requested page, and browser or device type in order to deliver and protect the site. Typlet does not use that information to build advertising profiles.

What Typlet keeps on your device

Typlet stores snippets, trigger labels, preferences, application exclusions, sync configuration, window state, and local recovery copies in your operating system's application-data folder. They are not uploaded to a Typlet server.

What AutoText observes

While AutoText is on, Typlet matches a bounded suffix of recent physical keys in memory so it can recognize a trigger. It does not store the translated text of your keystrokes, and it does not transmit typing to Typlet. Clipboard text or an image is held only during insertion and restored afterwards while Typlet still owns the clipboard.

Trial and license records

Trial state, license records, and an opaque installation identifier are stored separately from your snippets. They are excluded from ordinary Typlet exports and from selected-folder sync. The installation identifier contains no hostname, username, email address, or hardware identifier.

Folder sync you choose

Folder sync is performed by the third-party client and folder you select, such as Google Drive, iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive. Typlet does not operate that service; its access control, retention, conflict, and encryption policies apply, and Typlet does not add end-to-end encryption on top of it.

Purchase and activation

Purchase opens a hosted merchant checkout in your system browser. Payment details are handled by that merchant and are never entered into Typlet. Activation, validation, restore, device listing, and deactivation send the minimum required license credential, the opaque installation identifier, your platform, and the app version to a dedicated Typlet HTTPS service on Cloudflare Workers. That service must not log full license keys, request bodies, payment data, customer email, or signed entitlement payloads. Lemon Squeezy remains the authoritative merchant, order, license, and activation-limit provider and processes those records under its own policy.

Update checks

Typlet asks a Typlet HTTPS service whether a newer version is available. The request carries your platform, processor architecture, and the version you are running — no account, no license key, no installation identifier, and no snippet content. Updates are free for every user, including Typlet Free. Typlet never installs an update on its own: it tells you when one is waiting and installs it only when you choose Check for Updates from the tray menu. It also carries a rollout bucket: a number from 0 to 99 drawn at random the first time Typlet runs, so a staged release can reach a small group first. A hundred buckets are shared by everyone who uses Typlet, so it marks a cohort, not a person.

Where the local credential lives

Any credential needed for later validation is kept in macOS Keychain, Windows Credential Manager, or an equivalently protected facility of your operating system — never in browser storage, ordinary application-data JSON, selected-folder sync, or exports.

Operating-system permissions

On macOS, Accessibility permission allows Typlet to observe physical keys and send replacement input, and Automation may be requested for returning focus to the app you were writing in. On Windows, Typlet installs a normal-integrity low-level keyboard hook and uses synthetic input. These permissions exist for local product behavior. They are not used for analytics or keylogging, and ordinary input is not sent to any Typlet server.

Diagnostics

Typlet keeps technical logs locally to diagnose failures. They are not transmitted automatically. If you email support, you decide what to include.

Keeping, deleting, and exporting your data

You can export your snippets, turn folder sync off, and delete Typlet's application-data folders after fully quitting the app. An uninstaller may deliberately preserve user data so that a reinstall or upgrade does not erase your snippets.

Limits worth knowing

Anyone with access to your operating-system account can potentially read local snippet data. Application exclusions are a convenience boundary, not a sandbox. Secure or password fields, custom keyboard remapping, and every target-specific input-method behavior are not universally detectable.

Privacy questions

Write to support@typlet.app. Please do not send passwords, full license keys, or snippet contents.
